Who is Susie Stonefield Miller?

It's hard to put me in a box. I'm a renaissance girl and always have been.

Artist, expressive arts facilitator, teacher, mom, wife, solopreneur, writer, spiritual music leader, hand holder, community builder.

Think of me as the MIDWIFE to YOUR CREATIVE SPIRIT

My purpose is in inspiring passion, compassion, self-confidence, and insight through art, expression, and community.

MY PASSION IS SHOWING YOU THE INNER ARTIST THAT'S ALWAYS LIVED INSIDE YOU.

A lifetime of making art and over thirty years teaching and creating healing community has lead me to the work of expressive arts: using creative expression to unveil the threads of our existence for deeper clarity, understanding and transformation.

My BIG focus these days is on building creative, healing community in person and online. Whether sitting around a table piled with art supplies, fingers wet with paint, or sharing photos and insights across the digital universe, my goal is to create a nourishing space for people to own their voices and manifest their dreams.

THROUGH IN-PERSON CLASSES, E-COURSES AND RETREATS I WANT TO GUIDE YOU TO FIND YOUR CREATIVE VOICE AND THROUGH THAT DEEP SELF-LOVE AND SATISFACTION.

Before I could read or write, I started making art and I haven't stopped since. I received my undergraduate degree from UCLA in Fine Art and a teaching credential with an art specialization from UC Berkeley. I have studied art therapy, personal narrative writing and poetry, spirituality and Jewish music, curriculum development, and meditation. Over the past three decades I have worked in the fields of expressive arts facilitation, education, art, and design, in schools, nonprofits, in my own small businesses, and in larger organizations. I am a mentor and speaker in the world of homeschooling, have helped birth babies, taught breastfeeding, and mentored parents on the topics of education, homeschooling, disabilities, parenting children with chronic illness, and compassionate parenting.

I'm a proud mama to three strapping young men and wife to the most generous and supportive man on the planet. I'm the only female in my close-knit tribe, including humans, felines and equines. I live with my brood in the beautiful rural, west Sonoma county of Northern California.

Caveat:

Though Susie received her Person-Centered Expressive Arts Therapy Facilitation certificate from PCEATI in 2017 and though the expressive arts work done at Unfold Studio is healing and transformative, she is not a therapist and her classes are not art therapy.

Susie has a really special gift. Her presence is almost more powerful than anything in the studio. She let’s you be vulnerable and prompts you with some encouraging words to calm your inner critic.
