five weeks of
art journaling, expressive arts and compassionate community to support your tender heart & grief process
Thursdays, June 8, 15, 22, 29 & July 6, 2017
6 - 9 PM
Your world has changed.
Someone is missing.
SomeTHING is missing.
You're standing at a threshold. Or a crossroads. Or a standstill.
Life goes on around you and yet you wonder how that is possible. You feel at once numbed and on high alert. You feel nothing and everything at the same time.
Grief is not something to be fixed even though we may feel that we are somehow broken.
Grief is a path we find ourselves on, unsure of the landscape, unsure of finding our way through.
Compassionate community is one pathway to your heart. The expressive arts (process-centered creative expression) is another.
Geography of Grief blends all of this together in 5 sessions through art journaling, movement, and sharing your stories in a community of fellow travelers.
Creativity is a powerful way to express what we are harboring deep inside. Playing and exploring with art supplies--what I nurture and nourish at Unfold Studio--gives us permission to let go of our expectations and inhibitions. Oftentimes, our unconscious speaks loudly during these moments, telling us things we never realized we knew, felt, or remembered.
Geography of Grief offers you an opening back to your self. A doorway to insight. Relief from the holding of it all.
Each week we will gather at the magical and sacred space that is Unfold Studio in Cotati. (Take a tour of the studio here and here.) I will help you get connected to your body and heart with a short centering meditation. From there we will move to visual expression in art journals (examples of some of my grief pages are here on this webpage, above and below). We will explore moving to our art as a way to deepen our connection to our stories and emotions. Finally, we will share our work, our experiences and our stories in intimate circles.
It is a soulful, safe and beautiful circle that forms at Unfold Studio. You only need share what you are comfortable sharing.
You will be seen and you will be heard. You will feel the ease that comes with release.
